As far as cement sales are concerned, i.e. a major leading indicator for the entire industry, the data for March 2019 appears to be highly positive. Taking into consideration not only domestic production but also the foreign trade balance (data published two months after actual production), cement sales for the last 12 months (April 2018-March 2019) exceeded 20 million tonnes for the first time on record, which translates into a rise of nearly 12% year on year. However, this impressive growth is quite likely to slow down in the coming months, as suggested by an 11% drop in cement production in May compared to the same month last year.
